EDU 2018 March Update

Hi Internet Spacefriends!

Chiimera here with a few progress words around EDU 2018. We're still in 'negotiations' with CCP regarding the Dev Delegation for the event but I'm hopeful we'll have something to announce before the end of April.

In this update I'm going to cover a couple of topics that are regularly raised with me by the community. The first of these being hotel deals for EDU. We have contacted a couple of places regarding deals, however the actual deals we were provided didn't really provide a benefit to attendees. In one case the 'discount rate' provided by the hotel was more than their current public rate. If you're looking for somewhere to stay I can recommend the Meriton on Kent and some of our other attendees have given position reviews of APX Darling Harbour. As always you can jump into the EDU Discord and have a chat with the community about where to stay.

Communication is something that I can wholeheartedly say we are pretty darn bad at. It's something that for an organisational team full of people who work full time, high impact / high workload jobs can become a task that constantly put on the backburner. Even taking the time out to build an update email to send out via mailchimp usually turns into a 4 hour task at the end of your day and voila! You just spent 14 hours working and you don't even have some time for a bit of unconsentual PVP. So as far as communication goes, we'll do what we always do - Try and make it better.

Now I'm not just say this: your feedback is valued and important to us, it's what tells us the things we're doing wrong, the places we can improve and the things we can think about doing in the future so keep it coming.
